Tales of Salvation

Season 11

Let’s talk about the stories we know and love! Cindy and the kids explore our favorite fairy tales and childhood stories that reveal themes of good and evil, death and salvation, in a way that even a small child can understand. In preparation for Easter, we will relate our favorite stories to the greatest story ever told: salvation through Jesus Christ!

Snow White and Ashes

Cindy and the kids retell the story of Snow White: a story of sin, death, and resurrection. Entering into Lent, we talk about the significance of Ash Wednesday and the promises in our baptism, telling our story of sin, death, and resurrection for us! (Genesis 3:1-6, 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23)

The Word Lives With Us: Advent Devotion

Season 10

“The Word Lives With Us” is our weekly Podcast Devotion Series to focus your family on the true meaning of Christmas. Each week, Family Style Theology will inspire kids of all ages to hear the Word of God, discover WHO is the Word, and understand that He lives with us! Cindy Koch and children from ages 5-17 will explore John 1:1-14 in a six-series episode season.

Word

  • Let’s hear the story of Jesus from a different point of view, beginning with the creation of the universe! Cindy and the kids talk about JOHN 1:1-3 and discover that the Word is God, and the Word came to our earth in the person of Jesus.

Light

  • What does Light do? It shines in the darkness! In our Advent Devotion on JOHN 1:4-6, we hear that Jesus arrives as the Light of the world. Cindy and the teens explore how this Light changes everything.

Witness

  • God sends His words and people to tell us the truth. In our Advent Devotion on JOHN 1:6-9 (15), we hear that John the Baptist always pointed to Jesus. Cindy and the teens discuss how God also sends a witness to us so that we believe that Jesus is coming.

Faith

  • The world did not recognize Jesus when He came. In our Advent Devotion on JOHN 1:10-13, Cindy and the kids explore faith, and how we can only “see” with our ears: believing the Word of God!

Flesh

  • Merry Christmas!  Check out our Advent Devotion on JOHN 1:14 where Cindy and the kids discuss the humiliation of Jesus, why he became flesh, and what that means for us today.

Grace

  • Listen in on our After-Advent Devotion on JOHN 1:16-17 where Cindy and the kids discuss the law and gospel and what it means for all of us today.

Learning to Pray

Season 9

We are all learning how to pray God’s Word together. Join Cindy and the kids in a conversation about a deeper understanding of the Lord’s prayer and what it means. We journey through Luther’s Small Catechism and the Bible to have a conversation about the many things our God gives us to pray.

1 – Our Father

  • Today we begin talking about who is “Our Father”.

2 – Holy Name

  •  In the First Petition of the Lord’s prayer we ask God’s name to be holy among us… what does that mean?

3 – Thy Kingdom

  •  God’s Kingdom is here right now! We believe His Word by the kingly acts that God is doing in our lives today.

4 – Will of God

  • What is God’s Will for you?

5 – Daily Bread

  • The Forth Petition means more than just “give me food.” What is the daily bread that we pray for?

6 – Forgive us

  • Forgive us: that is a hard confession to pray, sometimes. But in this petition, we learn the great mercy of God for ourselves and for others around us!

7 – Temptation

  • We explore temptation today, and the gifts God gives us to combat the devil, the world and our sinful self.

8 – Deliver us From Evil, Amen!

  • God delivers us from all evil by the death and resurrection of His Son, and He truly hears all of our prayers. Yes, yes, it is so!

Fairy Tales

Season 3

Explore the Fairy Tales we know and love with a twist of theology! Read them, watch them, talk about them and find an engaging conversation that your children are happy to participate in. This is a six-part series involving select FAIRY TALES. We were inspired by an essay by J.R.R. Tolkien called “On Fairy Stories”. In this he muses on the timeless quality and benefit of the fairy story, entering into a magical universe where our usual rational defenses may be down. Ultimately, these fun stories stir up simple truths about ourselves, our God, and the greatest story we know in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Episode 1: Snow White

Episode 2: Pinocchio

Episode 3: The Little Mermaid

Episode 4: Cinderella

Episode 5: Jack and the Beanstalk
